Learn to make cheese in your own home………
 
 
 

Courses are tailored to the complete beginner - no prior knowledge is required.

Patrons working in small groups produce 8 litre batches of cheese in a kitchen setting.

We use un-homogenised milk from a local dairy and commerically available pasteurised but un-homogenised milk.

 

 

Course includes:
- Basic cheese-making theory
- General understanding of milk and cheese physiology
- Milk pasteurisation issues
- Hands-on cheese-making
- Troubleshooting
- Brining and cellaring tips
- Pointers for setting up at home
- Cellaring and return of your cheese after 3-5 weeks

 

     
 
   
 
Day includes a gourmet lunch of local produce and a range of fine cheeses,
 
and a tasting of local wines.
     
  What to bring:  
    - Clean, old clothes of light colour or apron (may be exposed to bleach)
- Notebook and pencil

  Deposit: $40 per head to be paid 7 days before the course to confirm booking.
