The McLaren Vale Cheese and Wine Trail
...is the result of a drunken afternoon
at Blessed Cheese with the winemakers and cellar door staff of some
the Vale's best wineries |
|
|
A progressive picnic
matching some of South Australia's finest artisan made cheeses with
wines from some of the region's best wineries. The cheese and wine
matches develop across the day, starting with an acid curd and sharp,
dry white, and culminating with a matured cheddar and full, tannic
McLaren Vale red.
|
| |
| |
Patrons collect their
hampers containing cheeses and accompaniments from:
|
Blessed
Cheese
|
150 Main Road, McLaren
Vale, 5171
|
and head off for
a 3 to 5 hours journey around the Vale.
|
| |
|
|
Participants are
recognised by the wineries and encouraged to bring their cheeses into
the cellar door, consuming them with the appropriate wine, or any others
that may take their fancy.

Premium and
Premium Gold (Corporate)
In this case, large integrated local produce and
cheese platters are prepared and delivered for you to each selected
winery prior to your arrival. Imagine a 4 course progressive lunch,
starting with Appetisers (pecans, brazil nuts, mild goats curd with
a dry White), and developing across the day to peak with a Main course
(cheddar, smoked meats, pickled vegetables and a heavy McLaren Vale
Shiraz), and ending with a dessert platter of blue cheese, chocolate
biscuits and candied fruits next to a black fruits and mulberry red
with edges of vanilla oak.
Ideal for Corporate and Social club functions.

LARGE GROUPS:
In order to provide a quality of service ande attention,
and in order to respect the size of many of the participating cellar
doors, larger groups
may be asked to split into two. While a single bus can ferry the patrons,
each of the halved groups visit neighbouring wineries, the bus ferrying between. |
