Blessed Cheese aims to represent
the smaller or McLaren Vale’s
winemakers, with many of our bottles made by producers too small to host
their own cellar door. We hope to provide a unique opportunity to sample
the wares of these ‘Back Shed’ or ‘Lost Boy (and Girls)’ producers,
as well as to highlight some of the lesser known mid-sized operators
of the region.
The winemakers of McLaren Vale are often very young when compared
to other Australian winemaking regions, displaying vitality and
innovation in their
work not often seen in the industry. While many of these artisans work
for larger companies, they often spend their weekends tweaking and twisting
their arts, expressing their skills unfettered by the demands of the
mass market. Many spend a great deal of time selecting their
fruit, picking
the eyes out of the best of this and other South Australian regions,
and blending to produce the perfect expression of their intent.
Please sample their wares by the glass, or settle in with a
bottle, and embrace some of the cutting edge winemaking
in Australia. You might be
tempted by one of our Continental Cheese Plates, allowing you to
mix and match some of the Australia and the World’s most
interesting cheeses to what we believe are some of the World’s
most interesting wines.
